Hardie Albright
Biography
Hardie Albright was an American actor who was born in Charleroi, Pennsylvania, began performing as a child in his parents' vaudeville act, and later studied drama at Carnegie Tech, graduating in 1926. He gained stage experience with Eva Le Gallienne's repertory company and made his Broadway debut in Saturday Night in 1926. A Fox scout saw him as the juvenile lead in The Greeks Had a Word for It, leading to a film contract and his 1931 screen debut in John G. Blystone's Young Sinners. He appeared in many films, including the voice of the adolescent Bambi in Disney's Bambi (1942). On Broadway he acted in plays such as Twelfth Night, The Three Sisters, and Play, Genius, Play! After World War II he left film acting, taught drama at UCLA, and wrote books on acting and directing. In the 1960s he made guest appearances on television series including Hazel, Leave It to Beaver, Bewitched, and Gunsmoke.
