Plot summary
Jon Kortina is a young and lonesome drifter on the streets of Los Angeles when he meets Harvey Lewis, an eccentric mortician. Harvey gives the homeless Jon a place to stay and a job as an assistant at his mortuary, even though Jon turns up wearing a bloody T-shirt. The two become friends and start an underground business selling the gold fillings Harvey has gathered from corpses' teeth over the years. Jon also meets Traci Walton, a bartender, and the two begin dating; Jon moves in with her. Jon lost his family in a tragedy when he was a child, and Harvey keeps much of his own history to himself.

Can contain spoilers, watch the movie first.
- Best F(r)iends was shot as a single movie; according to co-star Paul Scheer the script ran only 100 pages, and the decision to split it into two volumes came only after filming had finished.
- Greg Sestero felt sympathy for Tommy Wiseau after watching an early cut of The Disaster Artist, so he created a film for the two of them to make Wiseau happy and wrote the Best F(r)iends script in a few weeks.
- The story was inspired by a road trip Tommy Wiseau and Greg Sestero took together in April 2003, after the production of Wiseau's cult classic The Room.
