George Tyne
Biography
George Tyne was an American actor and television director who began his career as Buddy Yarus. Born in Philadelphia and raised in Brooklyn, he started in films in the early 1940s, and Objective, Burma! (1945) came out under that early stage name. Billed as George Tyne, he had parts in Sands of Iwo Jima (1949), A Walk in the Sun (1945) and Decision Before Dawn (1951), and he acted on Broadway, notably in the 1954 comedy Lunatics and Lovers. His film and television work picked up again in the mid-1960s, when he moved to the west coast and combined small roles with directing episodes of The Odd Couple and The Paul Lynde Show. Later films include Marlowe (1969), Skin Game (1971) and Romantic Comedy (1983), and his last screen part was in The Lonely Guy (1984). He taught directing at the California Institute of the Arts in the early 1990s, and he died in 2008.
