Erica Ash

Erica Ash worked as an American actress, comedian, singer, and model, building a career that ranged from Broadway to sketch comedy and sitcoms. Born in Tallahassee, Florida, she moved often in childhood because her parents were in the U.S. military. After earning a pre-medicine degree from Emory University, she intended to go to medical school, but working in Japan as a backup singer and runway model shifted her path to entertainment. In 2006 she obtained Broadway roles, including The Lion King, and a short engagement in Germany; on returning she tried out for The Big Gay Sketch Show and stayed two seasons, at first splitting time with The Lion King. In 2008 she joined MADtv as a featured player for its 14th and final season on FOX, becoming the fifth African American woman in the show's cast. She went on to a starring role in the Starz sitcom Survivor's Remorse. She died in 2024.
