Emerson Treacy
Biography
Emerson Treacy was an American actor whose career took in film, Broadway, and radio. Born in Philadelphia, he had planned to study law before turning to the stage, and he graduated from St. Joseph College. His professional debut came with the Provincetown Players in a production of Inheritors, after which he spent two years with a company headed by Jasper Deeter. His stage work took him to New York, Los Angeles, and San Francisco, and his credits there included Tommy, The Master Builder, Take My Advice, Pigs, and Skidding; on Broadway he played Purdy in Searching for the Son (1936). Treacy appeared in the Our Gang shorts Bedtime Worries and Wild Poses as the flustered father of Spanky McFarland, took small parts in dozens of features, among them Adam's Rib (1949) and The Wrong Man, and worked in television on The Lone Ranger, Alfred Hitchcock Presents, and Perry Mason. He died in 1967.

Treacy served as press agent for Basil O'Connor, the American Red Cross chairman, and directed entertainment in the Southwest Pacific during World War II. He also wrote for the United States Office of War Information.
