David Hemblen

Biography

David Hemblen was a Canadian actor, born in London and raised in Toronto, whose career took in film, television and theater. He started on stage in the 1960s and went on to act in or direct over 70 productions at leading Canadian venues, among them the Stratford Festival and the Shaw Festival, where he spent four seasons. A Dora nomination for Best Leading Actor came for his Dr. Astrov in Uncle Vanya at Toronto's Tarragon Theater. On television he was Jonathan Doors on Earth: Final Conflict, George on La Femme Nikita and Lewis Hewitt on A Nero Wolfe Mystery, and he voiced Magneto in X-Men: The Animated Series from 1992 to 1997. His film work included Short Circuit 2 (1988), Speaking Parts, The Sweet Hereafter (1997) and Where the Truth Lies (2005). A Genie Award nomination followed for Family Viewing (1987).
