Collin Wilcox Paxton
Biography
Collin Wilcox Paxton was an American actress of film, stage and television, born in Cincinnati and raised in Highlands, North Carolina, where her parents founded the community theater that first drew her to acting. She studied drama at the University of Tennessee and made her professional debut in Chicago with the Compass Players before winning a Clarence Derwent Award for The Day The Money Stopped on Broadway in 1958. She appeared in Look, We've Come Through (1961) opposite Burt Reynolds and later replaced Jane Fonda in a 1963 revival of Strange Interlude. She was best known for playing Mayella Violet Ewell in To Kill a Mockingbird (1962), and in 1964 she took television roles on The Twilight Zone and The Alfred Hitchcock Hour. Her final screen role came in A Touch of Fate in 2003.
