Plot summary
Ian Fleming, who grows up to write the James Bond spy novels, is a womanizer and a romantic in his youth. His behavior gets him expelled from Eton and from other public schools, and his mother then places him at the Reuters news bureau, where he works as a newspaper writer. Reporting from Soviet Moscow, he covers a trial of British engineers. British military intelligence, an agency that would later become S.O.E., notices him there and brings him into His Majesty's Service. He then serves in British intelligence through World War II, and the exploits that follow grow more and more extraordinary.
