Cherie Lunghi
Biography
Cherie Lunghi is an English actress and voice-over artist whose career covers film, television and theater. Born in Nottingham, she studied at London's Arts Educational School, then at Homerton College, Cambridge and the Central School of Speech and Drama. At school she took the part of Hedvig in The Wild Duck and the title role in Alice in Wonderland for BBC radio. In the late 1970s she became a member of the Royal Shakespeare Company, playing parts that included Perdita, Celia and Viola. Her early screen work included the 1979 short film Diversion, and she gained international recognition as Guenevere in Excalibur (1981). Later films and television include Praying Mantis (1982), King David (1985), The Mission (1986), the football drama The Manageress from 1989 to 1990, and The Buccaneers (1995). She also appeared in advertisements for Kenco coffee, competed in Strictly Come Dancing in 2008, and narrated episodes of Who Do You Think You Are? in 2013.
