Bert Convy
Biography
Bert Convy was an American actor, singer and game-show host. Born in St. Louis, he moved to Los Angeles as a child and studied at UCLA before starting in the Billy Barnes Revues. On Broadway he originated the roles of Perchik in Fiddler on the Roof and Cliff Bradshaw in Cabaret, and he appeared in The Impossible Years. His films included A Bucket of Blood (1959), Semi-Tough (1977), Jennifer (1978), The Man in the Santa Claus Suit (1979) and The Cannonball Run (1981). On television he was a semi-regular panelist on What's My Line?, To Tell the Truth, Match Game and Password, then hosted Tattletales, for which he won a Daytime Emmy in 1977, and Super Password. With Burt Reynolds he formed Burt and Bert Productions, whose Win, Lose or Draw he hosted, and he directed Weekend Warriors (1986).

For the part of Bert in Mary Poppins, Convy was among those considered, but he declined the offer, and Dick Van Dyke received the role.

When Convy was 17, the Philadelphia Phillies offered him a contract, and he went on to play two years of Minor League Baseball in 1951-52.

During the 1980s, Bert Convy and Burt Reynolds started a company called Burt and Bert Productions. Win, Lose, or Draw, a game show, was its first production, debuting in 1987.
