Benito Stefanelli
Biography
Benito Stefanelli was an Italian actor, stuntman and weapons master who appeared in more than 60 films between 1955 and 1991. Born in Rome, he became best known for playing henchmen in Sergio Leone's Spaghetti Westerns, taking such parts in A Fistful of Dollars (1964), For a Few Dollars More (1965) and The Good, the Bad and the Ugly (1966). He also played the town drunk in Wanted (1967), which starred Giuliano Gemma and Serge Marquand. Beyond acting, Stefanelli worked as a stunt coordinator, especially in the 1960s and early 1970s, on productions in which he also performed, including Leone's films. A fluent English speaker, he reportedly served as an interpreter for Clint Eastwood alongside Bill Thompkins during the production of A Fistful of Dollars. His screen career continued into the early 1990s.
