Biography
Ariana Grande is an American singer, songwriter and actress who began performing as a teenager, taking a role in the Broadway show 13 before landing the part of Cat Valentine on the Nickelodeon sitcom Victorious and its companion series Sam & Cat. She signed with Republic Records and issued her first album, Yours Truly (2013), which reached the top of the Billboard 200. Later records include My Everything, Dangerous Woman, Sweetener, Thank U, Next, Positions and Eternal Sunshine (2024). On screen she appeared as Penny Pingleton in Hairspray Live! (2016), voiced the lead in Snowflake, the White Gorilla (2011), and acted in Don't Look Up (2021). She played Glinda in Wicked (2024), a performance that brought an Academy Award nomination, and reprised the part in Wicked: For Good (2025). Her honors include three Grammy Awards, a Brit Award and thirteen MTV Video Music Awards.

Grande took acting and singing lessons for months before auditioning for Glinda in Wicked because she wanted the part so badly.

Grande made her directorial debut with the short film Brighter Days Ahead, which she wrote with Christian Breslauer and which won Video of the Year at the 2025 MTV Video Music Awards.

Grande picked up sound engineering and vocal production herself, since she likes being hands on with each project. Mac Miller, a rapper, showed her how to work the digital audio workstation Pro Tools.
A first
For her efforts, Grande was made Manchester's first honorary citizen by the Manchester City Council. Later that year, reports said she turned down an honorary UK damehood.
