Biography

Ann Firbank, also credited as Annie Firbank, is a British actress born in Secunderabad. She took the part of Anne Elliot in the ITV serial Persuasion, a 1971 small-screen version of Jane Austen's novel, which is counted among her best-known roles. Her cinema work includes Accident (1967), The Scarlet Pimpernel (1982) and Anna and the King (1999), and she was cast in the 2005 costume drama Elizabeth I with Helen Mirren. On stage she acted in The Golden Dragon at the Jagriti Theatre in Bangalore in 2012, and a critic for The Hindu singled out her stage presence and the energy she showed at 79. Two years later she played Rebecca Nurse in The Crucible at the Old Vic.
