Alexander Lockwood

Alexander Lockwood was an American actor whose screen career stretched from the late 1930s into the 1980s. Born Alexander Wyricz in Poland, he came to the United States as a child and grew up in Chicago. He began acting in film in 1938 and during the 1940s appeared in movies such as Jigsaw, Just Off Broadway and Sherlock Holmes in Washington. Steady work followed in the 1950s and 1960s, including The Wrong Man, The Invisible Boy (1957), Monster on the Campus (1958), Edge of Eternity (1959) and The Tarnished Angels (1957). In the 1970s he appeared in Duel (1971) and Family Plot (1976), and his last film was Romantic Comedy (1983). Earlier he acted with stage companies in Sioux City and was a leading man in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, in 1928. His Broadway debut came in Soliloquy in 1938, followed by Hamlet and Remains to Be Seen. He died in 1990.
