Alexander Armstrong

Alexander Armstrong is an English comedian, actor, broadcaster and singer who grew up in Longframlington, Northumberland. He read English at Trinity College, Cambridge and spent his final year with the Footlights, then moved to London after graduating in 1992. He was put in touch with Ben Miller through Jez Butterworth, and the pair took their double act to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in 1996, where they earned a Perrier Award nomination. They made four series of Armstrong and Miller together between 1997 and 2001, and renewed the partnership in 2007 for a second Armstrong and Miller series that won an award. He has presented the BBC One quiz Pointless since 2009. His acting work includes the sitcom Beast, Life Begins and Hunderby, and he supplies voices for Danger Mouse, the alien computer Mr Smith in The Sarah Jane Adventures and Doctor Who, and the narrator of Hey Duggee. A bass-baritone, he has released three studio albums.
