Al Mancini

Al Mancini was an American actor who worked in theater, television and film. He graduated from Kent State University in 1954 and in 1960 appeared with Ted Flicker's improvisational group The Premise, which moved from Off-Broadway to London's West End. He stayed in Britain, writing and performing for the BBC satire program That Was the Week That Was, and his foremost film role was Tassos Bravos in Robert Aldrich's The Dirty Dozen (1967). He also acted in To Grab the Ring (1968) and appeared on British television in The Prisoner, Department S, UFO, Colditz and Special Branch. By the middle of the 1970s he had settled back in America; his later films included Miller's Crossing (1990), Loose Cannons (1990), The Public Eye (1992) and Falling Down (1993). He taught acting at the Beverly Hills Playhouse for over three decades, wrote for television, and made his last screen appearance in 2005 on Joan of Arcadia. He died in 2007.
