Plot summary
Rome's upper class keeps up a respectable front. Silvia Santi, a duchess, is part of it with her industrial husband Giorgio Santi, as are Elena and Teo Teopoulos, Rubio and Dedé Marescalli, Nino and Wilma Rappi and the baron Maurizio Di Vittis. Beneath the front, the city's high society is a parade of corrupt and sleazy characters: social climbers, unscrupulous nobles and figures who stage fake kidnappings and extortion attempts. Commissioner Quintilio Tartamella is the police officer working this world.
