Did you know?!Facts and trivia about Roller Coaster Rabbit (1990)
Can contain spoilers, watch the movie first.
- Steven Spielberg wanted Roller Coaster Rabbit to play with Arachnophobia, Hollywood Pictures' first feature, but Disney CEO Michael Eisner released it with Touchstone's Dick Tracy instead, hoping to raise that film's profile; Spielberg, who owned 50% of the character, then canceled the third short, Hare in My Soup.
- Jeffrey Katzenberg wanted the Jessica scene in Trail Mix-Up cut, but Cook talked him into keeping it and warned the animators not to show the buttons on Jessica's uniform so they would not be mistaken for nipples.
- Tummy Trouble, made over nine months by a staff of 70 Disney animators, was the first animated short Disney had produced in 16 years to accompany the original release of a feature film, since Winnie the Pooh and Tigger Too in 1974.
SPOILER
The destruction of Mount Rushmore's presidents in Trail Mix-Up was achieved by blowing up a large sculptured miniature, built by Bob Spurlock and his crew from Stetson Visual Services at Golden Oak Ranch.- A cut Roller Coaster Rabbit gag had Roger and Baby Herman paused by a traffic light atop the coaster's lift hill while a Long Car of Disney characters, Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Monstro from Pinocchio and Chernabog from Fantasia, zoomed past; it was dropped because the characters would be unrecognizable going too fast and momentum lost going too slow.
