Plot summary
A benefit performance of The Wall is staged in Berlin within a year of the wall's fall, at the site where the barrier once stood. The singer and composer who once led Pink Floyd performs the concept album with an all-star group of music and film names, following a rock star's slide into madness. The staging adds the Marching Band of the Combined Soviet Forces in Germany, a 100-piece orchestra, a choir of 100 from East Berlin and 150 extras. The broadcast reaches 52 countries, where a reported 500 million television viewers tune in, while a live crowd of 250,000 gathers at the site.
