Plot summary
The Hobbit was published in 1937, and over the decades its readers grew into a fandom. The documentary traces that following through Western popular culture. In the early days the fandom sat inside hippie culture and reached people in the pop world, some of whom appear here. A performance of "The Ballad of Bilbo Baggins" is included.
