Plot summary
During World War I, on the Franco-Austrian frontier, a priest who serves as chaplain to a French colonial regiment is sentenced to life imprisonment for his power to turn men into zombies. He prepares to burn a parchment that holds the location of the secret formula. Mazovia kills him and takes the partially burned parchment. After the war, an expedition from the Allied countries travels to Cambodia to find and destroy the Secret of the Zombies. Mazovia, General Duval, his daughter Claire, the Englishman Clifford Grayson and Armand Louque, a student of dead languages, are among the group.

- Amusement Securities claimed its contract gave it the exclusive right to use the word "zombie" in film titles; referee Henry Hoffman awarded it $11,500 in damages and legal fees and barred the Halperins from promoting Revolt as a sequel to White Zombie.
- Bela Lugosi is uncredited in Revolt of the Zombies, but his eyes appear whenever the zombifying power is used, the same image of his eyes that was used in White Zombie.
- Columnist Louella Parsons reported in September 1935 that Bela Lugosi was to star in The Revolt of the Zombie, but by November trade papers announced the Halperin brothers' sequel with no mention of Lugosi.
