Plot summary
In the summer of 1915, Pierre-Auguste Renoir is in the twilight of a long painting career, working on the Côte d'Azur despite arthritis and the aches of old age. News arrives that Jean, his son, has been wounded in the war, and Jean comes back to the family home to recover. Andrée Heuschling enters the household as well, a young woman who becomes the painter's model and gives him fresh energy. The father is near the end of a celebrated career; the son has not yet found his own path. At the house, Jean falls in love with Andrée, and his father is fiercely opposed.
