Plot summary
A war widow from the United States makes a journey to Vietnam, to the countryside where her husband died during the war. Her translator, Xuan Ngoc Nguyen, lost her own husband to the same war. The two women travel together and speak with Vietnamese widows and American widows about what the war took from them and what their losses have meant.
