Plot summary
A Crude Awakening: The Oil Crash gathers petroleum geologists, energy analysts, former OPEC officials, politicians and political analysts to make the case that global oil production is close to a peak. They present historical events, data and predictions about crude oil supply. The film shows how oil is essential to almost every aspect of modern life, including driving, clothing, medicine and clean tap water. Current footage is mixed with news and advertising material from the years when petroleum production was expanding. The interviewees conclude that a global peak may be imminent, that wars may be fought over access to oil, and that economies dependent on it could suffer.
