After her grandmother's funeral, Lisa Reisert takes a red-eye flight from Dallas back to Miami, where she manages the Lux Atlantic Hotel. At the airport bar she chats with a friendly young man, Jackson Rippner, and is surprised to find him in the seat beside her on the plane. Once they are in the air, his manner changes: he tells her he works for a domestic terrorist group that intends to assassinate Charles Keefe, the Deputy Secretary of Homeland Security, who is staying at her hotel with his family.
