Plot summary
Ned Kelly is a modern-day Australian bank robber who hands the money he takes to the poor rather than keeping any of it for himself, in the manner of the outlaw whose name he carries. His family's island home is at stake, and holding on to it calls for a million dollars. His own rule forbids robbing banks in Hollywood and pocketing the proceeds, because that money belongs to people who need it. So Ned has to find another route to the money while he is far from home, and it is a movie producer who turns up there with an offer.
