Plot summary
At a Los Angeles police station, Kenneth Bianchi gives a series of interviews to Samantha Stone, the psychiatrist who questions him about the case. Bianchi is one of the two men the case names as the killers, and his cousin Angelo Buono is the other; together they are blamed for the murders that frightened the city in the late 1970s. Stone must work through the details Bianchi offers and judge whether his claim of multiple personality disorder is true. Listening to his account forces her back through the crimes themselves, and she is a woman with disquieting troubles of her own in her private life.
