Plot summary
An audience has gathered at a local amphitheater for a performance of The Barber of Seville. Elmer Fudd, a hunter, chases Bugs Bunny from the distant hills into the theater's backstage. Bugs raises the curtain, exposing Elmer to the spectators, and Elmer lands on stage as the orchestra strikes up. Bugs then takes on various guises from the opera to outwit him, among them a temptress, a snake charmer and a barber. Elmer winds up in the barber chair for a full grooming that runs from pedicures to peculiar rituals, the slapstick paced to Rossini's overture.

Can contain spoilers, watch the movie first.
- In the short sequence where Bugs Bunny's scalp massage follows a piano solo, the character's hands were drawn with five fingers instead of his usual four, so he could believably follow the tune.
- Carl Stalling's arrangement of Rossini's overture keeps its basic structure but drops some repeated passages and is conducted at a faster tempo, so the piece fits the cartoon's standard running length.
- The "Barber of Seville" poster shown at the start of the film lists three Italianized names, Eduardo Selzeri, Michele Maltese and Carlo Jonzi, standing in for producer Edward Selzer, writer Michael Maltese and director Chuck Jones.
