Plot summary
Stevie and his girlfriend Rocky are on their way to school when he decides to rob a bank, using a gun he has taken from his mother's closet. Neither of them has planned anything, and the robbery quickly goes wrong: the pair end up holding the bank's staff and customers inside while police surround the building. Daniel Bender, a veteran FBI negotiator, is assigned to handle the standoff. He starts out calm and cooperative, agreeing to supply food, beer, condoms and an MTV reporter when the people inside ask for them, but Stevie's short fuse complicates every attempt to resolve the situation.
