Plot summary
Chained in hell, Mary Lou Maloney, the prom queen who burned to death in 1957, frees herself with a nail file and returns to the school where she died. Principal Weatherall is opening Hamilton High's rebuilt gymnasium. Alex Grey, a student who wants medical school, has been told by his guidance counselor, Ms. Richards, that his grades point him toward menial labor instead. Studying for a test, he meets Mary Lou in the school at night, and she appears to him during a biology exam and a football game, which he wins to the fury of his rival Andrew Douglas. His grades climb, he reaches the honor roll and turns into a football star, while his girlfriend Sarah Monroe finds the change hard to take.

- Prom Night III was shot in Toronto during a particularly frigid autumn, and producer Peter Simpson was on set so much that he received a co-director credit alongside director Ron Oliver. Oliver later admitted the film had shortcomings but blamed no one and stayed friends with Simpson despite the rough shoot.
