Plot summary
Cryogenic storage is how this future punishes crime: convicts serve their sentences frozen. Romulus, an android whose government creator Kinderman corrupted it, leads armed terrorists into a high-rise hospital, where Sarah, the President's daughter, becomes a hostage. The FBI, under agent Trevanian, decides that a surprise raid must be planned by the man who designed the hospital, an architect then serving cryo-time for a criminal past. A mix-up brings back a different prisoner instead, a former professional football player jailed for murder. He lets the authorities keep believing he is the architect and offers his help in return for freedom, though he knows nothing about architecture.
