Plot summary
The oil company Vaxxilon keeps a support ship in the Indian Ocean off the Somali coast. On the night shift, the supervisor Karsen lowers four divers in a diving bell to mend a damaged oil pipe: the veterans Engel, Mitchell and Hurst, and the rookie Jones. The job done, they start back up, and a storm hits the ship above them. The cables holding the bell give way. Trapped roughly 670 feet down, the men cannot raise the ship, and no one answers their calls. Their air is limited, the bell is damaged, and swimming straight to the surface without decompressing would kill them. Mitchell, the leader of the group, believes the company will send another vessel for them.
