Plot summary

Matt Nash works as a journalist, and his reporting keeps putting him in danger. He survives a shooting during research into the drug scene only because he is wearing a bulletproof vest. The editor of The Examiner intends to dismiss him, then offers him a final chance: track down three environmental activists who have gone missing. Those three had slipped into the headquarters of Saturn Energy, the power company, and taken files about a project it keeps hidden. Nash gets in touch with the group and is led to a concealed way onto the firm's grounds in the countryside. There he learns that the company is developing an alternative energy source, and that a test run pulled power from the Los Angeles grid. He also meets Gabriella St. John, a manager at the company.
