Plot summary
A middle-aged painter with little money, Tzokov does not believe in marriage, and the cramped socialist society around him finds that view unacceptable. He is the last bachelor in his neighborhood. All the same, he decides to make a major change in his life and marry. The parents of the girl he loves have a different candidate in mind for her, since they want a more suitable husband for their daughter. The father's professional standing gives them a tool for stopping the wedding. The struggle between Tzokov and the parents puts both sides through a string of strange and uncomfortable situations.
