Phantom of the Megaplex (2000) on Netflix

Plot summary

Pete Riley is 17 and works as the assistant manager of a 26-screen megaplex, a job he loves. The theater is preparing for the premiere of Midnight Mayhem, a Hollywood blockbuster, and the megaplex owner Wolfgang Nedermayer is expected among the guests. Pete's widowed mother is out on a date, so he brings his sister Karen, 13, and his brother Brian, 10, and parks them in a movie. A rumor holds that a phantom from the old movie house that once stood on the site haunts the building. Then trouble starts: equipment breaks down, staff members disappear, and the popcorn machine fails. Other auditoriums suffer mishaps that seem to follow the titles of the films being shown. Pete works to keep the premiere on track and wonders whether the chaos is coincidence or sabotage.
