Plot summary
Captain Dmitri Zubov, called Demi, has spent a career in the Soviet Navy that never measured up to his father's. Commodore Vladimir Markov hands him his old submarine and a top secret assignment, the last command he is likely to receive. Demi leaves his wife Sophi and his home behind and interrupts a party his crew is holding, taking executive officer Alex Kozlov and the men to sea. Before the boat sails, a KGB contingent led by agent Bruni comes aboard, and its presence changes what the mission is meant to be. Demi and Kozlov, unsure what Bruni intends, keep watch on him and his men as the submarine gets underway.
