Plot summary
Years earlier, Thalia Grace gave her life to shield Annabeth, Grover and Luke from monsters, and Zeus turned her into a tree that guards Camp Half-Blood. Percy Jackson stays at the camp, where Clarisse La Rue calls him a one-quest wonder. A young cyclops, Tyson, arrives as Percy's unknown older half-brother, a sea-nymph's son by Poseidon. After a Colchis bull attacks, the campers find Thalia's tree poisoned and the barrier weakening. Annabeth learns the Golden Fleece can heal it, and Grover senses the Fleece off Florida. Mr. D denies their quest and picks Clarisse for it. The Oracle of Delphi tells Percy that a half-blood child of the elder gods will one day save or destroy Olympus, and Chiron says the prophecy may name him. Percy, Annabeth, Grover and Tyson leave camp to find the Fleece.
