Plot summary
James Elcott runs a bank and has little time for his wife Penelope, so she dresses as an elderly woman in a white wig, a prosthetic mask and baggy clothes and robs his bank, escaping in a red wig and a yellow suit. Part of the stolen money goes to a Salvation Army worker; the suit ends up at a second-hand shop, where the con artists Sabada and Ducky buy it for seven dollars as a Paris original. Penelope tells her psychiatrist, Gregory Mannix, everything and traces her stealing back to her college years; he suggests she takes things to draw her husband's attention. Lieutenant Horatio Bixbee and the police search for the thief.
