Plot summary
Mitsue Okano's dementia began soon after her husband Satoru died, and ten years on her son Yuichi looks after her in Nagasaki. He draws manga, writes songs and keeps a salaryman day job, and his bald head earned him the nickname Pecoross, after the small onion his mother says it resembles. Her forgetfulness brings the household both comic energy and annoyance. Yuichi and his son Masaki must decide whether she should move into a home for the elderly. Flashbacks follow Mitsue through a childhood as one of ten brothers and sisters, the war, and a marriage in which she pushed her alcoholic husband along.
