Plot summary
Sho's father Norio pays him a surprise visit and asks him to clean out the room of his aunt Matsuko. The room is packed with garbage bags, and as Sho sorts through it, a tattooed neighbor and others supply details of her life. In Ōkawa, Fukuoka, she taught music at a junior high school and was devoted to her students. Her father Tsunehiro gave his attention to her chronically ill sister Kumi, so Matsuko felt unloved. After a theft at her school she was forced to resign, and she packed her things and left home, despite Kumi's protests. Months later Norio runs into her and learns she is with Tetsuya, an aspiring writer who abuses her.
