Plot summary
Gurtej Singh Kahlon saw British skinheads attack his family, and a member of the family died. The police never charged the attackers, and Gurtej was arrested for protecting his family. He swore to change how East Indians were treated and set about building a Mini-India in Southall, arranging the marriages and lives of his household, and nobody dared oppose him. A follower of the Indian team, he had his son Parghat play cricket, but when Parghat had the chance to join the England side, he forbade it and put him in a convenience store. Parghat's siblings resent him. Simran Chaggal, his childhood friend, half-English and half-Punjabi, returns with her adoptive brother Zeeshan, and Parghat gets another shot at England. Simran and the family urge him to take it and agree to hide it from Gurtej.
