Plot summary
Five years have passed since Katie and Hunter vanished. In a suburb of Henderson, Nevada, Alex Nelson lives with her father Doug, her mother Holly and her six-year-old brother Wyatt. Neighbors move in across the street, and odd incidents follow: a row of cars, chandeliers and kitchen knives, the family car and the garage doors behaving as if they were alive. Alex begins filming her house with a laptop webcam, then she and her boyfriend Ben place cameras in every room. Robbie, the son of the woman next door, stays with the Nelsons while his mother is in a hospital. Wyatt mentions Robbie's imaginary friend Toby, and Alex comes across Robbie in a closet, telling her that the friend dislikes being watched.
