Plot summary
Reef Hawk has worked in the movie business since childhood and is now an A-list actor, described as the most-liked in Hollywood. He returns to work after a five-year break, which he spent fighting a heroin addiction. Then his crisis lawyer, Ira Slitz, calls with bad news: a damaging video exists, and someone is using it to extort him. Reef does not know what the video shows. He learns that he is not universally loved, and that his years in the business have earned him plenty of enemies. Reef begins approaching the people he is estranged from, among them his mother, his first manager and his two closest friends, to make amends.
