Plot summary

Seventy-five years after the major war criminals were tried at Nuremberg, the documentary examines the Einsatzgruppen trial, in which members of four death squads of the security police and the SD answered for their actions in court. The mobile commandos and police battalions counted tens of thousands of German members, who killed Jewish men, women and children day after day. Written records, original documents, footage, photographs and scenic reconstructions follow the path of one murder battalion, while historians and social psychologists consider how ordinary men could carry out such killings. An interview with the American lawyer who served as chief prosecutor against leaders of the Einsatzgruppen, one hundred and one years old at the time, is a central element of the film.
