Plot summary
El Chorrillo is getting ready for Christmas when the United States invades Panama in December 1989. President George Herbert Walker Bush orders the operation, which strikes two dozen targets across the country, among them this neighborhood, against the defense forces of General Manuel Noriega. The aims are to bring back the elected government of Guillermo Endara and to take Noriega into custody on drug trafficking charges. Several people are caught up in it: a Panamanian officer who believes his superiors betrayed him, a young man trying to stop his friends from joining the fight, a fisherman struggling to bury his compadre, an American businessman held prisoner over accusations that he spied for the CIA against the dictatorship, and a prostitute unable to leave her past behind.
