Plot summary
Esteban Leguizamón works as a journalist in Argentina. Twenty years after the 1982 conflict in the Falkland Islands, known in his country as the Malvinas, he learns that Alberto Vargas, a man he served beside, has tried to take his own life. At the hospital he finds Vargas in a coma, and Vargas's wife Marie explains that the war had marked him and that he had been deeply depressed in the days before. Esteban also learns that over two hundred and ninety veterans of the fighting against the British have taken their own lives. The news pulls him back to his own time as a young conscript in the islands with Vargas and Juan, living in foxholes and waiting for the British troops to arrive.
