Plot summary
Marcus J. Trillbury is a fast-food cook who is shy, nerdy and socially awkward. In his spare time he takes on the persona of Onyx the Fortuitous, an amateur occultist who wants to matter. Onyx enters an online competition and, with four other entrants, wins a spot at an exclusive weekend hosted by Bartok the Great, a famed occultist. Bartok and Farrah, his assistant, guide the winners through rituals that promise eternal life.
