One Last Thing... (2005) on Netflix

Plot summary

Sixteen-year-old Dylan Jameison has an inoperable brain tumor and lives in Marcus Hook, Pennsylvania with his widowed mother, Karen. A wish-granting organization invites him onto television, and instead of the fishing trip it had arranged, he tells the audience he wants a weekend alone with the supermodel Nikki Sinclair. In New York, Nikki hears the broadcast; her agent, Arlene, sees a short visit as good publicity, and Nikki agrees, though the meeting is brief. Disappointed, Dylan decides to raise money and head for New York with his friends Ricky and Slap, hoping to see Nikki again. Karen, who has raised him alone, wrestles with letting her sick son travel unsupervised in a city he does not know, while Nikki, dealing with troubles of her own, is reluctant even to speak with him.
