Plot summary
Johnson lives in a Griffith Park mansion, where a hidden panel slides back to reveal the device he uses to report to an authority on Davanna. His bodyguard, Jeremy Perrin, provides him support and protection, unaware of what he is. Johnson speaks in stilted syntax, wears dark glasses even in the dark, and is sensitive to high-decibel sound. He hires the nurse Nadine to look after him at home, and Dr. Rochelle, the physician treating him, is under his hypnotic control. Around Los Angeles, the police cannot explain a series of deaths in which the victims are drained of blood. Nadine's friend Harry Sherbourne is a police patrolman.

- Paul Birch, who played the alien Mr. Johnson, had to keep his white contact lenses in all day because Roger Corman wanted him ready to roll at a moment's notice. The discomfort led to a shoving match on set, and Birch walked out before filming finished; Corman used a double in dark glasses to complete his remaining scenes.
