Plot summary
After the Gill-man escapes from an oceanarium in Florida, a team of scientists sets out to capture him in the Everglades. Dr. William Barton, who organizes the expedition, brings his wife Marcia aboard the Vagabondia III, and the guide Jed Grant makes repeated passes at her, which she turns down. Barton grows jealous and paranoid. Marcia joins Grant and Dr. Thomas Morgan on the first dive, against her husband's objections. She swims too deep, is overcome by raptures of the deep, and removes her scuba gear, forcing Grant and Morgan to give up the hunt and save her. Dr. Borg and Dr. Johnson are also part of the team.
